Meet the Team


Mike Simard, Owner
Mike has been in the automotive industry since he was 13 years old and has always wanted to operate his own shop. After a lot of hard work and dedication, his dream was realized and he is now the proud owner and operator of Simard Automotive! He is an ASE Certified Technician and enjoys all aspects of owning a shop. Mike and his wife have 3 kids and I his spare time, he enjoys spending time with them and boating.


Robert Simard, Shop Foreman
Robert has spent the last 11 years in the Automotive Industry and is an ASE Certified Technician. He grew up in the North East Kingdom of Vermont, where he worked as a Brew Master’s Assistant for 4 years. He also ran a fine dining restaurant.  Robert enjoys working on and expanding his knowledge of foreign vehicles, especially VW, Audi, BMW & Mercedes. In his spare time, he likes to be outdoors and spends most of his time fishing.


Bob Piser, Master Technician
Bob is an ASE Master Certified Technician with over 10 years of experience and has lived in Alaska for 27 years. He is married with 4 children that take up most of his time. When he does get some free time, he enjoys playing basketball and watching sports on TV.


Cat Pottschmidt, Office Assistant
Cat has worked at Simard Automotive since 2011. She went to Hutchison high with interest in the automotive industry and started working while still in high school. She has lived in Alaska for 9 years. Her hobbies are reading and playing hockey.


Craig Malecki, Technician
Craig has been in the automotive industry for 17 years. He grew up in the automotive industry with his father, who owned a shop in Florida. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors; hunting, fishing or woodworking.

Michael Mullins, Technician
Michael came to Alaska from California, He graduated from UTI in Arizona and traveled the state while living there. He came to Fairbanks so he could discover everything it had to offer. He enjoys kayaking, hiking, and exploring all new things. In his leisure time he reads a lot of books and writes music. He has a Belgian Malinois which goes about everywhere he does. One of his goals in the future is to try to build his own house here after he is established.


Adam VondenBenken, Service Advisor
Adam has been in the automotive industry his entire career working as a Mechanic and as a Service Advisor. He has been a Service Advisor for the last 10 years. He has a loving wife with 3 girls. When Adam has spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and going fishing.


Steve Stinebaker, Service Advisor
Steve has served patrons and clients in the automotive service and repair industry for over twenty years. He has had the privilege to work in all facets of the industry including but not limited to customer service, shop flow, quality control, parts management and administration. Steve takes great pride providing the absolute best in customer care and repair service excellence. Steve has a passion for life, has been blessed with both a son and a daughter and became a grandfather for the first time 6 years ago. He likes to read in his spare time and is amazed by optical data communication, golden ratio mathematics and quantum physics.


James Rodriguez, Apprentice
James came to Alaska in April 2015 from Tampa Florida in search of great adventure. An avid car enthusiast from the cradle, he has always known his career would be in the automotive industry. He plans to open his own shop that specializes in imports. In his free time, he likes to spend time reading, playing video games and working on the numerous project vehicles he and his friends have acquired.
