TS was looking to buy a used Subaru, so he brought it into Simard Automotive for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection. Our technicians will inspect the vehicle from bumper to bumper to identify any potential repair issues or areas of concern. Your tires grip the road and help provide a smooth, safe drive. With Alaska's unpredictable weather and road conditions, it's very important to take care of your tires. If they need to be replaced, it should not be something you put off for very long.  Here are some of the key things to keep in mind when maintaining your tires: 1. Check the Tire Tread Depth The obvious sign you need new tires is that the tread depths are getting dangerously low (in other words, they're going bald). If the tread depth is less than 1/16 inch, they are really low and should be replaced immediately. You can use the "penny test" by sticking an upside-down penny in the middle of the tread. If there is any space between Lincoln's head and the top of the tread, you are below the danger threshold.  2.
