Simard Automotive Customer Learns the Importance of Preventative Maintenance

We recently featured a story about our friend and longtime Simard Automotive customer, Wallace. He had come in to get a new car battery installed. Recently, he was back in our shop to get some maintenance perform. Wallace had made the mistake of letting some of his standard preventative maintenance services lapse, so he brought his car in to get all the work done at once.

"The Simard Automotive team worked together to fix my car problems," Wallace says. "There were numerous issues—all related to past-due maintenance on my 2004 model-year car. I finally decided to get all of the work done."

One of the issues Wallace was dealing with was the fact that his check engine light would come on intermittently. He wanted that problem diagnosed and repaired along with some other standard maintenance procedures that he had been putting off.

Unfortunately, ignoring simple maintenance services when they are due can actually lead to more significant problems. For example, if you don't change the oil and oil filter regularly, it can lead to major engine damage that will be extremely costly to repair. There's a reason we call it "preventative" maintenance because it helps prevent significant problems from occurring.

"They eventually replaced a spendy part on the car," Wallace adds. "I was then allowed to test drive the car for a few days to make sure that the engine light did not blink again. It was agreed that only after I was satisfied that the problem was indeed fixed, I would then pay for the repair. As I write this review—over a week later from that time—the light has stayed off. Also, the car seems to have a lot more 'get up and go' than it has had in a long time. I guess that is what you can expect from a properly maintained car."

This story should be a lesson to any car owner. Follow your vehicle's recommended maintenance schedule and turn to an auto shop like Simard Automotive who can keep your vehicle running its best for as long as you own it. If you live in the Fairbanks area, be sure and ask about our Million Mile Warranty and Arctic Maintenance Schedule programs.
