From time to time on the Simard Automotive Blog, we will introduce some of our valued employees. With two locations in Fairbanks, our success is built by the great people who work in our auto repair shops and our customer service team members. These employee profile articles will give you all a little glimpse into the people behind Simard Automotive and our friendly style of business.
Cat Pottschmidt has been a Service Advisor for Simard Automotive for more than six years. She is an integral part of the team and customers know they can count on her for exceptional service and honest advice. Cat is very skilled at helping customers and communicating with the automotive technicians in the shop. She makes sure everyone knows what is going on. Most importantly, she gives our customers the information and insight they need to make the right auto repair and vehicle maintenance decisions.
“For me, it’s all about interacting with different people and making sure they leave the shop driving a safe vehicle,” Cat says. “These are the things I like most about working at Simard Automotive.”
Cat has lived in Fairbanks for the past 11 years. She was born in Washington and has also spent some time living in Florida. She moved to Fairbanks with her mother and they have proudly lived her ever since. Cat currently lives in North Pole.
Cat’s father worked in the automotive repair industry, so it makes sense that she would follow in his footsteps. While in high school, she took a number of technical classes related to automotive, and she has always been interested in the subjects of automotive repair and maintenance. “I like the technicality of automotive,” Cat says.
Outside of work, Cat enjoys making the most of Alaska’s outdoor lifestyle. During the winter, she plays hockey and likes to go skiing or snowboarding whenever possible. During the summer, she likes the explore the countryside on hikes. She is often found out at the river or out at Harding Lake with friends and family. Cat is also an avid reader and an animal lover. Though she doesn’t currently have any pets, she has had many throughout her life and it probably won’t be long before she adopts another dog or cat (or ferret or fish)!
Next time you stop into Simard Automotive, you’ll probably end up talking with Cat Pottschmidt about your vehicle. Listen to her advice and let her help you make sound decisions when it comes to your automotive repair or maintenance needs.
