Craig Malecki has been a vital part of the Simard Automotive team for the past three years. He has embraced his role as Shop Foreman, which is crucial to the success of the shop. He is essentially the glue that holds the repair facility together.
As Shop Foreman, Craig is responsible for managing the work flow of the auto repair shop. He is in regular communication with the Service Advisors upfront to prioritize the repair jobs and help keep everything organized. Then, he is overseeing the repair technicians to make sure they are doing the work that is assigned. It's an important leadership and organization role, and Craig is a natural fit in the position because he always keeps things running so smoothly.
Craig is an automotive repair industry veteran, bringing over 15 years of experience in the business. His father also had a repair shop, so he grew up around cars and mechanics. "I always liked hanging out at my dad's shop as a kid," Craig says. "I gained a lot of passion for the job." There was no doubt that he would be working in automotive repair when he grew up.
Craig was born and raised in Florida, but decided to move to Alaska three years ago. Talk about a change of scenery! He quickly made Fairbanks his home, which is easy to understand because he loves the outdoors lifestyle. Whether he's camping, hunting, snowmobiling or riding four-wheelers, he is loving life being at the heart of Alaska's rugged yet beautiful natural surroundings. Craig also has two dogs, who are often along on many of his outdoor adventures.
When asked what he likes most about working at Simard Automotive, Craig replied: "We have a very honest and caring leader who cares about his customers and employees." Craig is inspired every day to be at his best and help lead the team at Simard.
If you see Craig at the shop, be sure and say "hi." You'll feel good knowing that people like him are taking care of you and your vehicle when it needs repairs or maintenance.
