Simard Automotive Employee Profile - Mary-Kate Podobnik, Service Advisor

Mary-Kate Podobnik joined Simard Automotive in April 2017, and she has been a great part of the team ever since. She is one of our Service Advisors and also takes on a lot of different management assistance roles. She works hard every day performing a variety of tasks, including everything from pumping gas and helping with certain auto repair jobs, to managing inventory and working with auto repair customers.

Ultimately, Mary-Kate’s most important role is as Service Advisor to the valued customers of Simard Automotive. She works closely with the repair technicians to prepare repair orders and present accurate repair estimates to customers. Her goal is to walk you through the process of which parts and repairs are needed for your vehicle, so you can make an informed decision. Mary-Kate is there to help and answer all your auto repair questions.

Mary-Kate brings her own auto shop experience to her position as Service Advisor and Manager’s Assistant. For several years, she worked as a front end/alignment specialist and a tire technician at a local car dealership. Mary-Kate has an extensive educational background in automotive repair, including an Associate's in Specialized Technology Degree from WyoTech Automotive Technical College in Automotive Technology and Applied Service Management. She specialized in light-duty diesel training. She also holds a number of other specialized automotive repair certifications and awards.

Mary-Kate joined Simard Automotive because she saw the opportunity for professional growth and knew that owner, Michael Simard, and manager, Rob Simard, would provide her the training and support she needed to advance in her career. “They are very supportive and willing to give me the tools and training that I need to do my job to the best of my ability,” she says. “They are also willing to listen to my ideas and let me take on projects that are within my capabilities. I love getting dirty and I love being able to fix something that I know I can fix.”

Mary-Kate is a Fairbanks/North Pole area native, though she has experienced extensive travels throughout North America, Central America and the Caribbean. As much as she’s traveled, though, she can’t imagine calling anywhere else but Alaska home.

In her free time, Mary-Kate enjoys many different hobbies, including dancing, four-wheeling, boating, swimming, riding horses, playing video games and just about any outdoor activity you can imagine. She has three dogs named Herculies, Onyx and Duckie.

We’re very glad to have Mary-Kate as part of the Simard Automotive team. We see great things in her future, whether it’s behind the counter or in the shop itself. She is very versatile and eager to learn as much as she can about automotive repair.
