Darrel and his family were in a tough situation. They were visiting Fairbanks for a 3-day weekend, but their car froze overnight and they weren't able to get it started the next morning. They needed to get back home, so they started calling around to every local auto shop they could find online. It wasn't until they contacted Simard Automotive that they started to feel like they might actually make it back home on time.
"Wow! What a weekend," says Darrel in his online review of Simard Automotive. "We thought we were prepared for the -40 North, but had no clue. We have two little kids (4 & 6) and were only supposed to be in Fairbanks for a 3-day weekend. After calling every shop online, Maria [one of our great service advisors] understood the urgency to get us back on the road home (she is a Saint)."
Maria walked Darrel through everything and help arrange a tow to our shop. The Simard Automotive team made sure their car was a priority because of the difficult circumstances. After attempting to warm up the car and jump-start the battery, our automotive technicians realized that there was actually a problem with the vehicle's starter. It wasn't just a dead battery or the engine being too cold.
Once the starter issue was identified, Maria recommended the necessary repairs and Darrel authorized us to move ahead with the work that needed to be done.
"When they realized it involved the starter, too, Mike [Simard] the owner came in on a Saturday to get us home," Darrel adds. "I feel bad for taking priority, but Mike understood this was going to take several plane tickets and trips to get this car home if otherwise. This is a standup group of amazing people that put others first! I highly recommend!"
Darrel, thank you for taking the time to share your story, and we're all so glad to hear that you and your family made it back home safely!
